HOVID Cosamine PLUS (Glucosamine 250mg + Chondroitin 200mg)
Cosamine Plus manufactured by Hovid contains Glucosamine Sulphate 250mg and Chondroitin Sulphate 200mg. Glucosamine Sulphate and Chondroitin Sulphate are substances found naturally in the body.
Glucosamine possesses antiarthrosic-arthrotrophic activities. It stimulates the anabolic metabolism of osteo-cartilagineous tissues via stimulation of the biosynthesis of the mucopolysaccharides (which are the essential components of the cartilage ground-substances) and of the bone mesenchymal tissues.
Glucosamine also acts to improve the viscosity of synovial fluid by increasing synovial fluid production, thereby providing lubricant activity.
Chondroitin sulphate could potentially slow the degeneration of the articular cartilage. Chondroitin sulphate partially inhibits leucocyte elastase activity, which would slow the degeneration of collagen.
In vitro studies hav shown at that chondroitin sulphate can increase ribonucleir acid (RNA) synthesis in cultured chondrocytes, which correlates with increased synthesis of several proteoglycans and collagens.

Directions:
For mild to moderate osteoarthritis symtoms:
Oral, 1-2 capsules 2 times daily for 6 weeks,
taken 15-30 minutes before meal.
For severe osteoarthritis symptoms:
Oral, 1-2 capsules 3 times daily for 8 weeks,
taken 15-30 minutes before meal.
Maintenance therapy: Should be followed for 3-4 months by administration of 1-2 capsules twice daily.
Indications: Adjunctive therapy in osteoarthritis.
